An office move creates two very different cleaning opportunities. An empty room exposes edges and surfaces that furniture usually hides. A furnished room needs attention after boxes, installers and foot traffic have passed through it. Trying to treat both as one uninterrupted visit can leave gaps.
Decide which spaces will truly be empty
List the rooms being vacated, rooms receiving furniture and spaces that will remain occupied. Mark when desks, cabinets and equipment will be removed. Do not promise an empty-space clean while movers are still using the room as a staging area.
The exposed areas may include floor edges, baseboards, interior storage and marks behind furniture. Discuss the actual condition during a walkthrough. Cleaning does not automatically include repairing wall damage, removing abandoned equipment or restoring worn flooring.
Coordinate the order of work
Give the cleaner the moving schedule and identify any installation still to come. Floor work may need a separate window before furniture placement, including time for drying or other product-specific restrictions. Confirm these details with the provider rather than assuming employees can immediately walk across every treated surface.
For a phased move, use a simple room list with three states: not ready, released for cleaning and complete. One person should authorize each release so a room is not cleaned while another team is still planning to work there.
Reserve a final occupied-space check
After the move, inspect entrances, shared rooms, restrooms and the routes used by movers. Packaging, fingerprints and tracked debris may need a final visit. Decide who removes cartons and packing materials, especially when building waste rules limit what can be left in ordinary bins.
Before employees arrive, confirm that cleaning equipment and waste have been removed and the agreed areas are available. Send Maid Man Cleaning the move dates, room sequence and furniture plan when discussing an estimate. A staged scope makes the cleaning expectations clear at each point in the move.
